How to delete or disable your account
How to permanently delete or temporarily disable your TEBHOS account, and what happens to your data.
You can disable or delete your account from your account settings.
How to find these options
- Sign in at tebhos.com.
- Open User Settings.
- Go to Account & Security.
- In the Danger zone at the bottom, choose Delete account or Disable account.
Deleting your account
Choosing delete schedules your account for permanent removal in 14 days. Signing in at any point during that window cancels the deletion. After the 14-day window, identifying information is removed from active systems. Encrypted backups roll over on a cycle of up to about 30 days, after which the data is gone from there too. Records we are legally required to keep (such as purchase records under tax law) are retained for the period the law requires. The full breakdown is in the retention section of our Privacy Policy and the data retention article.
Messages
Your messages stay on TEBHOS unless you remove them first. Other people you talked to can still see past messages to them, though they are no longer linked to your account.
If you want to clear them out before deleting:
- Delete the messages you do not want to leave behind in the app.
- Export your data first if you want a copy. See exporting your account data.
- Email [email protected] from your registered address to request deletion of specific data.
You cannot delete messages once your account is gone, so do this before the deletion finishes.
Disabling your account
Disabling signs you out of every device. The account stays in our systems exactly as it was; signing in at any time turns it back on. No data is removed.
Transfer your servers first
You cannot delete your account while you still own servers — so your members are not left with an ownerless community. Before deleting, transfer ownership of each server to another member in its settings, or close the server. The app shows you which servers still need a transfer during the deletion flow.
Inactive accounts
Inactive accounts are not deleted automatically today. If this policy changes, only accounts unused for at least 2 years would be in scope, and we would send advance notice to the registered email address before any deletion proceeds, so you can sign in and keep the account active if you want to. Details are in section 9.3 of our Terms of Service.
