The Windows app updates itself: it checks for a new version on launch, downloads the update in the background and applies it on the next start. Usually there is nothing you need to do.
How updating works
- On every launch (and at intervals while running) the app checks the update server.
- If there is a new version, a small delta package is downloaded in the background; it does not interrupt your work.
- Once the download finishes, the app switches to the new version when it is restarted. A “Restart to apply the update” notice appears in Settings; click it whenever you like.
You can see which version you are on under User Settings → About; the current version number is shown on the Download page. For the list of changes see the Changelog.
If no update arrives
- Quit the app completely (Quit from the system-tray icon) and reopen it; closing just the window sometimes does not quit the app.
- Make sure your computer is online and that a firewall/antivirus is not blocking the app’s network access.
- On a corporate network, a proxy may be blocking access to the update server.
If an update failed or the app will not open
The quickest route is to reinstall; your data lives on the server, so you lose nothing:
- Download the current installer from the Download page.
- Run the installer; it writes over the existing installation and opens the app. No separate uninstall step is needed.
- If the problem persists, remove TEBHOS under Windows Settings → Apps and run the installer again.
If you want to verify the installer, compare the SHA-256 checksum on the Download page with that of the file you downloaded (Get-FileHash <file> in PowerShell).
System requirements
Windows 10 or later (64-bit). Older versions are not supported by the app; you can keep using TEBHOS in the browser.
If the problem continues, write to [email protected] using the template in the bug-reporting guide, with your version number, your Windows version and the error message you see.
