Staying safe on TEBHOS mostly comes down to a few simple habits. This page summarises the most common risks and how to protect yourself from them.
Protect your account
- Use a strong, unique password; a password manager makes this easy.
- Turn on two-factor authentication (User Settings → Account & Security). Your account stays standing even if your password leaks; see Password and 2FA.
- Keep your backup codes somewhere safe.
- Sign out sessions on devices you do not recognise from the same section.
Fake gifts and “free Pro” traps
The most common scam: “I gifted you Pro, click this link to claim it” messages. What to know:
- Real TEBHOS gifts only come from people on your friends list and appear as a notification inside the app; they never ask you to sign in on an external site.
- Gift codes are redeemed only at tebhos.com/gift/redeem or inside the app; there is no “code verification” on any other site.
- The TEBHOS team will never ask for your password, your authenticator code or your card details. If you receive such a message, do not reply and report it: Reporting content.
Links and files
- Look at the address before clicking links from people you do not know; domains that contain the word “tebhos” but are different are a sign of a scam.
- Do not download and open executable files (.exe, .scr, .bat) or documents with macros from chats.
- Be cautious with shortened links; you cannot see where they lead.
Privacy settings
- Limit DMs: you can choose to receive messages only from friends; this reduces spam when joining large servers.
- Block: block a user who bothers you from their profile; their messages and friend requests will not reach you.
- Remember that notification previews and other tabs can be visible while you share your screen; close unneeded windows.
Personal information
Do not share your address, phone number, school/workplace details or card details in public channels. Photos can carry location data (EXIF); think before you share.
If something goes wrong
If you suspect someone has got into your account, change your password, turn on 2FA and write to [email protected]. If you see an unauthorised purchase, see Unauthorised charges. To report security vulnerabilities, use the Security page.
